Comments by Disqus
Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 10:24AM Recently, we were contacted by the guys over at Disqus to try out their commenting system here on (I+P). Last night, I implemented their tool and it is really simple and straightforward.
Basically, instead of the inherent commenting system on the blog, you fold some of their code into your blog. This allows commenters to track what they've said and start/participate in forum-like threads for others to build on. You may have seen it in action if you follow Fred Wilson's blog, A VC.
All an end user needs is a Disqus account which takes all of 3 seconds to setup (click login / signup below).
Here's a bit about them:
Disqus is about enhancing online discussion. We start out by offering a better comment system for your blog, backed and synced with your own dedicated forum. Get the most out of your website discussion with our full troll and spam prevention, statistics, and easy moderation tools.
Posting on Disqus-enabled sites means you’ll be able to track your comments and replies, follow friends, and maintain a reputation and identity across sites. Articles and blogs posts aren’t complete without the two-way communication of community discussion — we’re just here to make it even better.
We're excited to have the Convos Blog as part of their Beta and we're looking forward to hearing what you think of it
We have since gone back to having comments handled by our own internal comment management system.
